Grove
Product AI Questionnaire
03 · Questionnaire

Stop sending tax questionnaires.

Grove replaces your 40-page intake form with one adaptive conversation. It asks what's relevant for each client and skips everything else. Three times the completion rate, done in a sitting.

Watch an exchange: client picks a suggestion, Grove records the answer, keeps the conversation moving.
How it works

From a 40-page PDF to a conversation that actually gets finished.

01

Grove reads the prior year.

It knows the client's filing status, entities, dependents, and history before the conversation starts.

02

Questions adapt in real time.

Only the topics that matter for this client appear. Anything answered by the prior return is skipped.

03

Answers flow into the draft.

Every response is tagged to a return line or workpaper for review.

What's inside

A real conversation, not a questionnaire dressed up in a UI.

Adaptive branching

Forks on filing status, state, life events, business and rental activity. Sole proprietor, multi-state, new parent — all covered.

Plain English, not IRS jargon

No "qualified joint venture" or "QBI threshold." Clients hear what to do, not what the form is called.

Skips what's already known

If the prior year answers a question, Grove doesn't ask it again. Returning clients fly through.

Pause & resume

Clients finish on their own schedule. State persists. Progress is shared with your team.

Smart follow-ups

Vague or incomplete answers prompt a clarifying question — automatically, in the client's own thread.

Multi-state and edge cases

Handles part-year residency, multiple K-1s, foreign income, and dependents with complex situations.

FAQ

Common questions, answered.

How long does a typical interview take?

Returning W-2 clients often finish in 4-6 minutes. New clients with multiple income sources or businesses can take 15-25 minutes — still meaningfully faster than a paper organizer.

Can I add firm-specific questions?

Yes. Add custom questions globally or per client segment (e.g., "Did you make any crypto sales?" for a niche practice). Questions can be conditional on prior answers.

What languages are supported?

English at launch. Spanish is in private beta. Tell us what else your client base needs.

Does it handle multi-state or international situations?

Yes — multi-state residency, part-year moves, K-1s in multiple states, foreign accounts (FBAR/8938 triggers), and basic non-resident situations are all in scope.

How does Grove know which questions to skip?

It cross-references the prior-year brief, the documents already uploaded, and answers given earlier in the conversation. If a topic is settled, it doesn't come up.

What if a client gives an unclear answer?

Grove asks a follow-up. If the answer is still unclear, the question gets flagged for preparer review — never silently misinterpreted.
